As a parent, it can be tough to know the proper way to help your child when a tooth is ready to come out.  The roots of the baby teeth gradually dissolve as the permanent teeth descend.  This process is called resorption.  If a baby tooth is only slightly loose, you should leave it alone until more of the root dissolves.  If it is very loose but won't come out, you can help your child pull it out.  Use a tissue or a piece of gauze to grasp the tooth firmly and give a quick twist as you pull.  If you and your child aren't able to remove the loose tooth, it may need to be extracted.

This is really a great tip!! I had to do this just yesterday with my 7 yr old daughter. Her front tth had been loose for some time. She couldnt get it out and was saying it was hurting. I could tell it was ready to come out because i could twist it both left and right. So...I grabbed a tissue and gave a little pull! Whaalaa out came the thh!
